Special Training with Jurgen Mayer

The special one week training with Jurgen Mayer, 5th Dan Shotokan and President of German Kobudo Association was concluded today. This ends the one week intensive training in Shotokan kata and kumite, Self Defense and physical fitness. The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Hussain Haleem, Vice President of National Olympic Committee who handed over Certificates of Participation to the participants and also a certificate of appreciation to Jurgen Mayer.

Jurgen Mayer to Visit MAAM

Mr. Jurgen Mayer, 5th Dan Shotokan, will be visiting Martial Arts Association of Maldives dojo late this month. He is a renowned German Karate-ka with 30 years of experience.  During his visit, he will be training with our students for about a week.
 

Aikido Training with Sensei Simon Lee

On Tuesday (13/10/09), a special Aikido class was held instructed by Sensei Simon Lee (4th Dan Aikikai) from Singapore. About 11 students participated in the class which was held from 9 to 11pm. Participants were able get better insight into Aikido training and concepts and also a new perspective into Aikido training. MAAM would like to  thank Sensei Siomn Lee for visiting our dojo and taking a class despite his busy schedule. We are privileged to have trained with Sensei Siom Lee who has more than 28 years experience in Aikido.

First World Youth Taekwondo Camp

One athlete and an official participated in the First World Taekwondo Youth Camp held in Seoul & Muju (South Korea) from August 6 to 11. Ahmed Maazin participated as the athlete and the accompanying official was Ismail Rafeeq. The Camp was jointly organized by World Taekwondo Federation and Taekwondo Promotion Foundation.

Our Athletes Participate in First Asian Martial Arts Games

Two of our athletes participated in the First Asian Martial Arts Games 2009 held in Bangkok from August 1 - 9. Ahmed Amanullah and Ahmed Maazin participated in Taekwondo in weight categories Fly Weight and Feather Weight categories respectively.

A total of 9 styles of Martial Arts was in the Games. They included Taekwondo, Karate Do, Judo, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, Pencak Silat, Juijutsu, Kurash, and Wushu.
